Wrong Audio Track? How to Fix the UX Nightmare

DubLab TeamSeptember 3, 2026 1 min read

YouTube tries to be smart by auto-selecting the language based on the user's interface. Sometimes it fails.

Are comments saying 'Why is this in Spanish?'

The "Original" Trap

Ideally, you mark your dub as "Spanish" and your original as "English". But if you upload a Spanish dubbed file as the "Original Video" file, YouTube gets confused.

Best Practice

  1. Upload the highest quality video with the Original audio burnt in.
  2. Add other languages as Additional tracks.
  3. NEVER delete the original track from the main video file before upload.

See the default track setting most creators miss.

The "Descriptive" Fix

In the first 5 seconds, add a small visual text overlay: "Audio Settings > Audio Track > English" to teach users they can switch.

Ensure a seamless experience.
